Tue, 03/18/2025 - 6:30pm to 8:30pm 03/18/2025 6:30pm GM Meeting: Advancing Dentistry: Building a Learning Health Care System with Calibration and Artificial Intelligence.

Advancing Dentistry: Building a Learning Health Care System with Calibration and Artificial Intelligence - 2 CE'S

This course will explore the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in modern dental practice with a focus on calibration, quality improvement, the value agenda and building a learning health care system in dentistry. Attendees will learn how evidence-based standards of care can be supported by AI to enhance diagnostic accuracy, improve preventive care, and support clinical decisions.

The session will cover calibration topics and how AI-driven advancements support quality standards in dentistry, including:

Evidence based-decision making, quality of care and a Learning Health Care System: Supporting the value agenda using dental informatics, big data, processes of care, appropriateness of care to improve outcomes of care.

Dental Diagnosis in Electronic Health Records (EHR): How a robust dental diagnosis within electronic health systems enhances the quality of dental care outcomes.

Caries Prevention (CAMBRA): Leveraging highly preventive, patient-centered care using the Caries Management by Risk Assessment (CAMBRA) model to improve tooth decay outcomes.

Radiographic Guidelines (ALARA): The application of radiology guidelines to minimize radiation exposure while ensuring diagnostic efficacy.

Treatment Planning and Surgical Decision-Making: How standards of care and AI can assist in determining appropriate treatment plan alternatives, including when to opt for non-invasive preventive care, minimally invasive procedures and decision to surgically intervene.

The course will emphasize how AI serves as the ultimate clinical decision support tool, improving standards of care through calibration, quality improvement and supporting everyday practice.

Learning Objectives:

  • Upon completion of this continuing education course, the participant will be able to:

  • Apply a learning health care system philosophy to dental practice

  • Analyze the benefits of diagnostic centric, highly preventive, minimally invasive approaches to dental care.

  • Synthesize standards of care, clinical practice guidelines, and AI in treatment planning, radiographic and surgical decision making to improve patient care.
